A 13-year-old boy's body was recovered from the Genesee River on Sunday following a reported drowning at Turning Point Park.
According to the Rochester Police Department, four teenagers were walking along the river when one boy decided to climb down a ladder into the water for a swim.
The group said the boy went under the water but didn't come back up. Captain Michael Callari says there are no lifeguards in the area and the boy went into the water on his own.
Police say the 911 call was made nearly two hours later. However, by the time investigators arrived the boy had already died.
The victim has not been identified. The medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
