The Breast Cancer Coalition is celebrating $150,000 in funding from New York state.

Breast cancer survivors say that money is important to continue providing a service they say is critical after a diagnosis.

"Of course, medical bills can rack up easily, but to be able to use a resource like the coalition and have it be free and not something you have to think about is ... we're very grateful to have that here in Monroe County," said Michele Chantra, founder of the Breast Cancer Coalition.

The funding will help expand programming and continue to provide outreach services.

The coalition provides free services and support to cancer patients and survivors across 27 counties. It helped more than 6,700 people last year.
