The Gift of Warmth collection drive is making a return this holiday season.
Nearly 140 drop boxes are set up at M&T Bank and Tops Friendly Markets locations around the greater Rochester-Buffalo region. They are ready to accept hats, gloves and scarves for those in need.
The local Salvation Army is distributing the donations and says it has come to rely on the dependable contributions they bring in.
"We always need winter gear, whether it's for our shelters [or] our Christmas toy shop for children," said Michael Gilbert of the Salvation Army of Greater Rochester. "In the community, there's such a need to keep our community warm and safe during the winter months and this has been a tremendous source of supplies of hats and gloves and we're deeply appreciative."
Those boxes will be out for donated items through Jan. 3.
