The city of Rochester is looking for input on its Highland Reservoir Improvement Project.

The goal of the project is to be able to meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule for open water storage facilities, which mandates that it must be covered or have treatment methods installed.

Since 2012, city officials say the municipality has operated under a Bilateral Compliance Agreement with the Monroe County Department of Public Health and the New York State Department of Health to address LT2 compliance. The city says it is studying several options to meet these requirements.

Highland Reservoir is one of three drinking water reservoirs in the city of Rochester. Currently, the water in the reservoir comes from another city reservoir that is covered.

Residents can learn more and provide their input on Oct. 29 at an event at the Olmsted Lodge in Highland Park. You can learn more about the project at CityofRochester.gov/Highland-Reservoir.
