Democrat Brian Nowak has been declared the winner in the race for Cheektowaga Town Supervisor following a recount, according to the Erie County Board of Elections.
Nowak ended up with 9,045 votes, just 53 more than Republican challenger Michael Jasinski, who received 8,992 votes.
New York state law required a recount to be administered in this race because the margin of deficit was less than a half of a percentage point.
Nowak is a current town council member and volunteer firefighter with Pine Hill Fire District.
