CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. -- Sheriff Ennis Wright (D) has been re-elected as Cumberland County sheriff.
- Sheriff Wright won the democratic primary with more than 82 percent of the vote.
- Wright won more than 63 percent of the vote for sheriff Tuesday.
Sheriff Wright won the democratic primary with more than 82 percent of the vote. He is the first African-American sheriff of Cumberland County, and it was his first campaign for office after being named the successor to former Sheriff Earl Moose Butler in 2016.
"It shows the confidence that the citizens have in myself and the staff that I have at the sheriff's office," Wright said. "They think we're doing a good job because if they didn't they wouldn't have come out and gave us the support they did."
He won more than 63 percent of the vote for sheriff Tuesday.
