ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. -- A 54-year-old Hubert woman has been found not guilty of charges for malicious castration and assault after she was charged with injuring her boyfriend's testicles. 

• Martinne Delavega has been found not guilty of malicious castration and assault.
• She injured her boyfriend's testicles in 2015.
• Jury found Delavega acted in self defense. 

Martinne Delavega's attorney says she caused injury to the man in self-defense when he straddled and beat her in September 2015.

The prosecution said the man was permanently disfigured after Delavega bit him.

After the incident the two remained in contact with one another and lived in the same home.

The jury determined Delavega acted in self-defense.
