On Thursday, severe weather struck the eastern half of the state, spinning up a tornado in Tyler.

  • Forecasters predicted severe storms on Thursday, April 20

  • A tornado formed in Tyler, Texas during the evening

  • It did minor damage in the city

The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF-0 tornado with maximum winds of up to 80 mph went through Tyler.

The weak tornado went less than a mile and the path was 65 yards wide.

Minor damage occurred in the city, including damage to the Tyler Junior College campus.
