AUSTIN, Texas — After an unbelievable first season with Texas, Longhorns guard Tyrese Hunter announced he is declaring for the 2023 NBA draft.

The transfer from Iowa State took to social media to make his announcement, while also reassuring his loyal burnt orange fans that he will maintain his college eligibility while declaring for the draft.

“To my teammates and coaches, thank you for pushing me every day and allowing me to be myself! Longhorn Nation, thank you! Since day one, you have shown me a tremendous amount of love and support!” shared Hunter.

According to Sports Illustrated, Hunter arrived at Texas during the offseason last year, and has started in all 38 games for Texas this season. He averaged 10.3 points per game, with three rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Hunter was a pivotal part of the Longhorns’ run to the Elite Eight this March, averaging 11 points per game, with a team high of 19 points in taking down Xavier in the Sweet Sixteen.
