Head coach Steve Sarkisian’s first season with the Longhorns was nothing but easy. The team, which started the season at No. 21, had six consecutive losses at one point, the program’s worst losing streak in 65 years. The Longhorns finished the season with a 5-7 record, marking the first year Texas hasn’t made it to postseason since 2016.
Texas ends with this upsetting record just four months after the school announced it was leaving the Big 12 Conference along with Oklahoma and heading to the SEC. Both schools stated they would stay in the Big 12 until their contract ends in 2025. A unanimous vote passed by the SEC presidents and chancellors to welcome these two schools into their conference.
