TEXAS — On Wednesday, President Trump issued an executive order aimed at stopping migrants from crossing the southern border.
According to a White House fact sheet, Trump signed an order that "suspends the physical entry of aliens engaged in an invasion of the United States through the southern border."
The fact sheet further says that Trump is directing the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice and the Department of State to take all necessary action to "repel, repatriate, and remove illegal aliens across the southern border of the United States."
How migrants will be blocked from attempted crossings wasn't immediately made clear.
On Monday, Trump deactivated the CBP One app, a tool that enabled migrants to seek asylum in the U.S. without illegal entry.
In addition, he ordered construction of the border wall to resume and reinstated the “Remain in Mexico” policy, which keeps asylum seekers in Mexico until their court hearings.
