TEXAS — Former President Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony charges of falsifying business records in his New York City criminal hush-money trial on Thursday.

Trump is the first former U.S. president to be found guilty of a crime.

“This was a disgrace. This was a rigged trial by conflicted judge who was corrupt. It was a rigged trial, a disgrace. The real verdict is going to be November 5 by the people and what happened here? Everybody knows what happened here,” Trump said as he exited the courtroom.

Texas lawmakers commented on the trial, with some calling it a “sham trial” and others saying that “nobody is above the law”.

Following the verdict, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott took to X to say that “This was a sham show trial. The Kangaroo Court will never stand on appeal. Americans deserve better than a sitting U.S. President weaponizing our justice system against a political opponent — all to win an election.”

Attorney General Ken Paxton said, “From the beginning of this sham trial, I stood by President Trump, and my support for him is stronger than ever. As Attorney General of Texas, I will unleash every tool at my disposal to fight this blatant corruption and political persecution spewing from New York and the Biden administration.”

State Sen. Roland Gutierrez added, “Donald Trump found guilty on all counts. The head of the Republican party is a convicted felon. The head of the Republican party is a convicted felon. We have always known Trump is corrupt, and today’s verdict proves it.”

Sen. Ted Cruz said, “This entire trial has been a sham, and it is nothing more than political persecution. The only reason they prosecuted Donald Trump is because Democrats are terrified that he will win reelection.”

U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro said, “The Republican nominee for President of the United States is a convicted felon - decided by a jury of his peers. Nobody is above the law.”

U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett commented, “Whew chile! Guilty on all counts in a state case! No matter what happens in November, he cannot 'undo' this verdict.”

Sen, John Cornyn said, “This verdict is a disgrace, and this trial should have never happened. Now, more than ever, we need to rally around @realdonaldtrump, take back the White House and Senate, and get this country back on track.”
