ARLINGTON, Texas — Netflix has dropped the first trailer for its upcoming documentary on the Dallas Cowboys, “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys.”

The gambler referenced in the title is controversial owner, president and general manager Jerry Jones, and according to a description of the documentary, it is “the definitive story of the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones’ impact on NFL history.”

“It is bigger than winning football games. It’s a soap opera 365 days a year,” Jones says in the trailer.

Despite another challenging season, no one can deny the team’s impact on the NFL and American culture. For years, the Cowboys have been ranked the most valuable sports team in the world by Forbes. With an estimated value of $10.1 billion, that was true again in 2024.

However, the Cowboys haven't won the Super Bowl since 1996.

“The documentary explores a decade-plus journey, led by Jones’ intrepid business moves, that revolutionized global sports and resulted in three NFL titles,” the official description reads. “Through first-hand interviews and never-before-seen footage, this series unravels the dramatic twists and turns on the road to the Cowboys becoming a football dynasty.”

Appearing in the doc are Cowboys legends from the team’s ‘90s heyday, including Michael Irvin, Emmitt Smith, Deion Sanders and Troy Aikman. Also featured are head coaches Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer and fans, including former President George W. Bush and Nike co-founder Phil Knight.

A release date hasn’t been announced. It’s expected sometime in 2025.
