The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) organization posted a video on Instagram highlighting Latimer’s first time dancing without a wig at the Cowboys-Bengals game on Monday, with the caption “Confidence takes center stage for Alopecia Awareness.”

In the video, one of her teammates tells her in the locker room, “You’ve got this, Mani.” Another person can be heard telling Latimer, “So proud that you’re doing this and representing a lot of little girls out there.”

Latimer posted previously about her condition during Alopecia Awareness Month in September. The fifth-year cheerleader posted a black-and-white photo to Instagram, and her coaches and teammates flooded the comments section with love and support.

Kelli Finglass, director of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, commented, “Gorgeous. Amazing. Beautiful” on the post.

Fellow cheerleader Charly Barby said, “You could not be anymore perfect if you tried!!! So beautiful mani,” with other teammates commenting that Latimer was the “most beautiful human,” and “magnificent.”

Latimer also talked about her journey with Alopecia and her decision to perform without a wig in an article for Women’s Health published on Tuesday.

“We can be empowered by so many things–you don’t need hair to feel that,” Latimer said in the article.

Monday’s game was the DCC’s annual My Cause My Boots game–a spinoff of the NFL’s My Cause My Cleats campaign, which allows players to showcase a cause that’s important to them on their game-day cleats.

Latimer told Women’s Health that the decision to dance without a wig during the My Cause My Boots game came about earlier in the season.

“Occasionally, people on social media have asked if I would ever be open to cheering without my wig, and at first, I was unsure,” Latimer said in the Women’s Health article. “But at the beginning of this season, something felt right about it, so I spoke to our director Kelli Finglass about the potential of going wig-free for our annual My Cause My Boots game, and she loved it.”

Latimer said she was initially scared to commit to performing without a wig in front of 80,000 football fans and on national television, but her friends and family helped her through it.

“I know that it’ll be an impactful moment for whoever it touches,” Latimer told Women’s Health.
