WIMBERLEY, Texas — Deep in the heart of Central Texas, Wimberley is putting the jingle in “Jingle Bells.”
The small Texas Hill Country city is known for its annual Christmas celebrations and has been named one of the best “Christmas Towns” in the Lone Star State.
Wimberley is gearing up for this year’s Christmas extravaganza and has announced its “Hometown Holidays” celebrations that kick off with a parade and tree lightings on Nov. 30.
Before the parade, EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens will host a tree-lighting ceremony, starting at 5 p.m. Then, Santa Claus will lead the “Lighted Christmas Parade” through downtown Wimberley, starting at 6 p.m. and ending with the downtown tree lighting..
The event will also feature a toy drive benefiting the Barnabas Connection, a local nonprofit that provides social services to the area. People who want to participate can bring new, unwrapped toys to donate.
Nov. 30 is also the start of the famous EmilyAnn’s Trail of Lights, which features eight acres of lighted exhibits and runs through Dec. 26.
The EmilyAnn Theatre was founded in 1998 to celebrate the life of Emily Ann Rolling, who loved the performing arts and tragically died in a car accident in 1996.
Rolling’s parents decided to honor their daughter by creating the nonprofit and outdoor theater to promote the arts in Wimberley.
While the trail is free to the public, the nonprofit will accept donations. The organization’s website has a calendar of special events and entertainment at the trail that will pop up throughout the month of December.
Other events during the city’s “Hometown Holidays” include the Wimberley Market Days at Lions Field on Dec. 7; a holiday bazaar, “Cup of Cheer” and pub crawl on Dec. 14; and a couple of breakfasts with Santa on Dec. 21-22.
More events taking place throughout the city and their details are on the Wimberley Valley Chamber of Commerce’s website.
“There’s no place like Wimberley during the holidays, and Wimberley is thrilled to welcome everyone to experience the magic of our hometown,” said Mayor Jim Chiles in a statement.
