After signing a 10-year apparel agreement with Adidas back in July, Texas Tech University on Thursday unveiled new uniforms for the Red Raiders football team that will include Mahomes’ signature “Gladiator” logo.

The new co-branded gear–which is being called the Mahomes “Galvanized” uniform–will mark one of the first times in history that an athlete’s personal brand will be part of a team’s official apparel, according to Texas Tech.

“Seeing my own logo on the Texas Tech uniform I put so much blood, sweat and tears in is one of the most meaningful off-field accomplishments of my career,” said Mahomes in a statement. “I want to thank the three-stripe family for giving me this one-of-a-kind opportunity.”

In a video hyping up the collaboration, Mahomes is seen talking to the team back in August and surprising them with the uniform.

“It’s difficult to imagine an athlete who does a better job of capitalizing on the opportunities that come with his immense talent than Patrick Mahomes,” said Aaron Seabron, general manager of U.S. Sports & Creation Center Portland at Adidas, said in a news release. “Working with Patrick to establish the ‘Mahomes Brand’ within adidas — through groundbreaking partnerships with Texas Tech and his Mahomes-branded Footwear and Apparel — is an incredible showcase of what collaboration between a leading brand and an elite athlete can accomplish.”

Along with the new threads, the partnership between the three-time Super Bowl winner, the Red Raiders and Adidas has also brought about a name, image and likeness (NIL) initiative.

Back in August, the group announced that six student athletes signed NIL deals to join “Team Mahomes.”

The six athletes were football player Micah Hudson, softball player NiJaree Canady, basketball player Jasmine Shavers, golfer Matthew Comegys, soccer player Sam Courtwright and baseball player TJ Pompey.
