Diners can enjoy $2 tacos and $4 Modelos and, if you’re up for a challenge, SABG is hosting a “guac off” to celebrate National Guacamole Day. Bring your best homemade guacamole for a chance to win a $50 gift card! Judging takes place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Gabriela’s Downtown and La Seareinita, both of the Gabriela’s Group empire, are offering $3 paleta shots, $6 Don Julio Blanco shots, $5 house margaritas and $8 Don Julio margaritas all day Sept. 15 and Sept. 16. La Seareinita opened back in May at the old Whataburger on 2305 Burleson Road in the East Riverside-Oltorf neighborhood.

San Antonio

Aldaco’s is offering month-long Hispanic Heritage Month specialty dishes and drinks, including a La Banderita flight of three shots, a Chile Relleno Azteca and a chocoflan for dessert. All are available from Sept. 11 through Sept. 30.

The beloved San Antonio restaurant Nicha’s Comida Mexicana is offering a Mexican independence margarita with strawberry on the bottom, lime in the middle and frozen melon midori on top to make the Mexican flag. Pair it with their Asada de Puerco special, which is only available in September.

Houston

Hugo’s Restaurant is serving the classic chile en nogada, a symbol of Mexican independence, during the month of September. The restaurant will also host a four-course dinner in partnership with Patrón tequila on Sept. 18. Tickets start at $120 per person.
