The newest face of the beloved grocery store chain is none other than Texas native Madisen “Madi” Skinner, a senior championship volleyball player at the University of Texas at Austin.

Skinner is a three-time NCAA champion, once with the Kentucky Wildcats in 2020 and twice with the Longhorns in 2022 and 2023. Last year, she won the Honda Sports Award for best player in college volleyball, and she ranks among the top players in the nation in points per set.

In a news release announcing the NIL deal, H-E-B said Skinner will appear in commercials that will air across the state. One commercial has members of the Longhorn Band and two others feature the university’s mascot Bevo.

Skinner said that H-E-B has always been a big part of her life growing up in Texas.

“It has always been more than just a grocery store to us and I have lots of fond childhood memories. To be their first NIL partner and to represent female college athletes is an absolute honor,” said Skinner in the release. “This partnership aligns perfectly with my values of hard work, community service, and inspiring the next generation of athletes. I’m thrilled to work with H-E-B to make a positive impact both on and off the court.”

Skinner will kick off her partnership with H-E-B on Sept. 3 at Del Valle ISD’s Popham Elementary School, where she will present a $10,000 donation to Brighter Bites—a nonprofit that provides fresh foods to families in need. She will also meet with young athletes at the school and give away some of her favorite H-E-B items.

“At H-E-B, we’ve always believed in the power of community and the importance of nurturing local talent. Partnering with Madisen Skinner isn’t just about aligning with a star athlete, it’s about championing the values that make Texas great: hard work, dedication, and a commitment to giving back,” said Ashwin Nathan, H-E-B Group vice president of marketing & payments, in the release. “We’re thrilled to welcome Madi to the H-E-B family and can’t wait to see the positive impact we’ll make together.”

Skinner will make appearances for H-E-B at various events, which will be announced at a later date.

Texas Volleyball’s season begins Sept. 1 against Wisconsin as the Longhorns attempt to become back-to-back-to-back national champions.
