DALLAS — Choo, choo! The world’s largest steam locomotive, Union Pacific’s Big Boy, is going on the road and rolling right through Texas.

Union Pacific announced Big Boy No. 4014 will roll out on the Heartland of America Tour starting Wednesday from Wyoming.

The eight-week tour concludes in October, but not before stopping in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The train is expected in Dallas Sept. 18-19 before heading to Fort Worth on Thursday, Oct. 10 until Sunday Oct. 13.

Big Boy’s Fort Worth stop will be the first time the public gets an up close and personal look at the train. Admission to see Big Boy is free and open to the public, according to Union Pacific. Big Boy will be on display in downtown Fort Worth at 275 W. Lancaster Ave.

You can catch Big Boy rolling across other parts of Texas, including Houston. See the full schedule here.

Twenty-five Big Boys were initially built exclusively for Union Pacific Railroad during World War I, according to UP. Out of eight remaining, Big Boy No. 4014 is the only operating one. The other seven are on display throughout America, including in Dallas.

Big Boy is a 132 feet long,1.2-million-pound locomotive that was delivered to Union Pacific in 1941.
