DALLAS — A long-awaited feature that customers have tirelessly requested is finally being tested in H-E-B stores. Tap-to-pay is being tested at the East Lovers Lane Central Market in Dallas, according to several reports.
Texas-based H-E-B is the parent company of Central Market, where the pilot program is being tested.
Tap-to-pay technology, such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, allows customers to pull up their bank card on their phone and motion it near the payment terminal in a “tapping” motion. It's a contactles option for customers to pay.
Until now, H-E-B, along with Walmart, has held out on accepting digital wallets.
It is unclear at the moment when H-E-B will offer tap-to-pay at its other locations across the state.
