DALLAS — Five previously closed Alamo Drafthouse locations in the Dallas area are reopening in August, the company announced on Friday.
Theaters in Richardson, Lake Highlands, Cedars, Denton, Las Colinas, and one location in Minnesota were closed after the Irving-based company that operated them filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early June.
Below are the reopening dates for each location:
● Alamo Drafthouse Richardson – August 9
● Alamo Drafthouse Lake Highlands – August 13
● Alamo Drafthouse Cedars – August 16
● Alamo Drafthouse Denton – August 20
● Alamo Drafthouse Las Colinas – August 23
A hiring fair for past employees at the Lake Highlands location will take place on July 23 to give them first access to interview for open positions. Those who are rehired will receive a more robust benefits package that includes free mental health services and immediate eligibility, according to the company.
“Our number one goal throughout this difficult period has been to do right by the former teammates and get back to providing the exceptional cinema experience our guests deserve,” Alamo Drafthouse CEO Michael Kustermann said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to say that that goal is in sight and that we’ll have teammates and guests back in those theaters very soon.”
Along with reopening, some locations will be on track to get major upgrades. By Labor Day, the company plans to install 4k laser projectors and Dolby Atmos sound in a new auditorium at the Richardson location; and premium reclining seats and 4k laser projectors are set to be added to the Las Colinas location by spring 2025.
Soft opening promotions will be available in the two weeks following each location’s opening with movie tickets for only $5 and 25% off select snacks and drinks.
Tickets for shows will go on sale on a theater-by-theater basis before each opening date.
