KYLE, Texas — Calling all Kyles! The annual Gathering of the Kyles in Kyle, Texas, is back and organizers are again hoping to break the Guinness World Record for the largest same-name, first-name-only gathering on Saturday, May 18.
The official Kyle count will take place at 1 p.m. at the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza at Lake Kyle Park.
It’s the event’s fifth attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record set by Ivans in Kupreski Kosci, Bosnia, in 2017.
To break the record, more than 2,325 Kyles will have to be in attendance at Saturday’s event.
Qualifying participants must have the first name “Kyle,” spelled that way, with no alternate spellings. Nicknames, last names and middle names will not be accepted.
There is no age restriction to qualify for the event, but participants will need to provide proof of identification.
Acceptable forms of identification include:
Valid photo driver’s license
Birth certificate
Valid passport
Valid National ID cards
Marriage certificate clearly displaying a current first name
Official documents proving a change of name
Entry is free and all participants will get a free Kyle Fair T-shirt.
There are other events taking place each day of the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza from Friday to Sunday such as free live music performances, food and drink competitions, carnival rides and more.
