KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It’s official, another Longhorn has joined the Kansas City Chiefs’ roster.
Former Texas Longhorn and tight end Jared Wiley signed with the 2024 Super Bowl Champions on Wednesday, according to reports from an NFL insider.
Wiley spent the first three years of his collegiate career with the Longhorns under coach Steve Sarkisian. The 6-foot-6 Temple, Texas, native made nine catches across 32 career games for Texas before transferring to rival TCU ahead of the 2022 season.
It’s safe to say Wiley made his mark while at TCU. During his last season, he received First-Team All-Big 12 honors and broke a record for the most single-game receiving yards (173 yards) by a tight end in TCU history during his last home game with the Horned Frogs against Baylor. He also caught the most receiving touchdowns (8) of any FBS tight end in 2023.
He joins the coveted team with fellow Longhorn and wide receiver Xavier Worthy, whom he played alongside in 2021 for one season while at Texas.
Kansas City selected Wiley in the fourth round of the NFL draft. He was the No. 131 overall pick.
According to Wiley’s NFL draft profile, his strengths are height and length and he has the potential to “line up in-line or as a move tight end.”
