AUSTIN, Texas — Former Longhorns defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat was arrested in Austin over the weekend for driving while intoxicated, according to a report from ESPN.
Austin police arrested Sweat, 22, on Sunday afternoon. He was booked into Travis County Jail and faces a Class B misdemeanor, which in Texas has up to a $2,000 fine and 180 days in jail. He was released after posting bond.
The news comes just weeks before the start of the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25, where Sweat is projected to be a first- or second-round draft pick. He’s known for his size and power on the field.
In 2023, his senior year at UT, he was named Big 12 defensive player of the year, reached All-American status and won the Outland Trophy.
Though he doesn’t face any discipline from the NFL due to not being in the league, the arrest could affect his standing in the draft.
T’Vondre is the younger brother of Josh Sweat, defensive end for the Philadelphia Eagles.
