AUSTIN, Texas — If you've ever dreamed of seeing an eclipse from 30,000 feet in the air, two major airlines can fulfill those dreams.
A full solar eclipse will happen on Monday, April 8 and viewing will start in parts of Texas at 1:40 p.m.
Both Delta and Southwest airlines are offering path-of-totality flights. Delta is offering a special flight from Austin to Detroit on April 8. Flight 1218 will be specifically operated on an A220-300, which will offer especially premium viewing because of the aircraft’s extra-large windows. The flight will depart from Austin at 12:15 p.m. CT and land in Detroit at 4:20 p.m. ET.
If you can’t make that flight, Delta will also have prime eclipse-viewing opportunities on five additional routes on April 8, on these flights:

- DL 924, LAX-DFW, 8:40 a.m. PST departure, A320
