DALLAS — A celestial event is on the horizon.
A full solar eclipse, nicknamed The Great North American Eclipse, will happen on Monday, April 8 and will be able to be seen from Texas at 1:40 p.m.
Dallas is nestled right in the path of totality of this year’s solar event for three minutes and 51 seconds, making it the longest duration across North America.
Here’s a list of places in the Dallas-Fort Worth area that will offer a spectacular view of the sun becoming one with the moon.
Protective eyewear is recommended for catching a glimpse of the solar eclipse. The American Astronomical Society offers a list of safe eyewear options.
Gilley’s Dallas

A rooftop music venue with a 3000 sq. ft patio with immersive views of the Downtown skyline, the venue would be a great place to host a viewing party.
Statler Hotel

The rooftop at the Statler Hotel is a popular hot spot for day parties and brunch by the pool, but will also provide a great view of the solar event.
STIRR Dallas

Headed over to Deep Ellum, STIRR’s rooftop is a popular space for brunch in Dallas, and will be a prime location for the viewing of this year’s solar eclipse. STIRR requires reservations, so it is recommended to place one before you head over.

This hotel is a beauty and known for its luxury and stylish interior. Their rooftop pool is where the magic will happen with a view of the Downtown skyline and southern sky. Access to the pool rooftop is only given to guest of the hotel, so it is recommended that your book your stay in advance.

For those not looking to book a staycation, the Canvas Hotel’s infinity pool rooftop is open to the public.

For a group viewing experience, the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is offering a special viewing of the eclipse, accompanied with activities to make the solar event memorable.
The Perot Museum of Nature and Science
2201 N Field St.
In partnership with the Carnegie Institution for Science, the Perot Museum of Nature and Science will offer a viewing experience with a live DJ, activities and food and beverages.
