AUSTIN, Texas — A friendly giant is coming to the Pease Park Conservatory in Austin.
The massive troll, estimated at 18 feet tall and 15 feet wide, is a donated piece from the Tejemos Foundation and designed by the Danish artist Thomas Dambo.
The sculpture, made of recycled and reused wood, is set to be installed in the Pease Conservatory, a nonprofit that works with the city to maintain the park, and will be finished in mid-March.
Materials for the construction of the friendly giant have already arrived in Austin and Dambo will begin the build in late February.
Much of the material that will be used was milled from the water tower that lived at the J. J. Pickle Research Campus of the University of Texas at Austin, according to the Pease Park’s website.
The giant troll will sit in the area just north of the Kingsbury Commons.
