EL PASO, Texas — An earthquake with a 5.3 magnitude shook up western Texas around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

Tremors from the quake could be felt 200 miles from its origin. It was detected about 30 miles west of Mentone, Texas. The National Weather Service said the quake even reached Santa Teresa and New Mexico.

The USGS reports the quake had a depth of about 4.59 miles. 

So far, no one is reported to have been hurt.
