TEXAS — Multi-talented actors Keanu Reeves, Dennis Quaid and Kevin Bacon are putting movies on hold and taking their bands on the road this fall to play in Texas.

Some may not be aware of their musical talents, but they’ve been on a lot of people’s TV screen with their classic films. The beloved actors will trade in the silver screen for the concert stage and connect with Texans through the language of music.

Dennis Quaid & The Sharks

Lead singer and rhythm guitarist for The Sharks, Quaid hesitantly returns to music after 10 years away from the scene. The movie star has appeared in films such as “The Right Stuff” and “The Rookie.”

Dennis Quaid & The Sharks will play in New Braunfels at the Gruene Hall on Oct. 6.His film “Flesh & Bone” was shot there. The band will have original songs, such as “Spill the Wine” and “Gloria,” on their set list. Their music is described as a mixture of country soul and rock ‘n’ roll.

Dogstar

Action film star Keanu Reeves, known for “The Matrix” and the “John Wick” movie series, has three concerts lined up in Texas. Reports say it’s been more than 20 years since he’s been on stage making new music as the band’s bassist.

On Sept. 25, Dogstar will play at the House of Blues in Houston, then do a show in Dallas at the Granada Theater on Sept. 26 and perform at Emo’s in Austin on Sept. 27 to close out their Texas tour.

The Bacon Brothers

Famously known for “Footloose” and “Tremors,” Kevin Bacon has plans to play at the Gruene Hall with his band The Bacon Brothers on Sept. 28.

Their sound is called “Forosoco,” a blend of folk, rock, soul and country influences. The Bacon Brothers have released their 11th album, Erato, which has five songs in total that will be played at the concert.

The band takes the stage at 8 p.m. Tickets are now unfortunately sold out.
