AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin, Texas, native and Academy Award nominated actor Ethan Hawke is the latest celebrity to partner with the Texas Department of Transportation for its “Don’t Mess with Texas” campaign.
The campaign and PSA are an effort to stop people from littering across the state and disposing of waste properly.
"The Black Phone" actor’s collaboration has aired on the radio and on TV in various ads. Gov. Greg Abbott recently tweeted about TxDOT’s newest campaign.

“I’ve been a longtime supporter of Don’t mess with Texas, and had a blast working with the team. When it comes to litter prevention, our state needs all the help it can get,” Hawke told TxDOT.
Hawke joins a long list of celebrity Texans who have become a spokesperson for “Don’t Mess with Texas,” including: George Strait, Willie Nelson, Joe Jonas, Black Pumas, Eva Longoria and Matthew McConaughey.
