TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — Swimming in the Hamilton Pool is currently off limits due to recent rains and high bacteria levels.

The rest of the preserve remains open to visitors at this time. The earliest swimming opportunity may be on June 16, but pool access is never guaranteed on your visit.

Travis County Parks reminds visitors that even when swimming is allowed, only a certain area of the pool is available due to the continued problem of falling rocks.

Major road construction on Hamilton Pool Road may lengthen your journey to the preserve this month. Plan for increased times in arriving and leaving the park. The park is also only accepting cash at this time.

While visitors can go down to the beach, they cannot walk around the water to below the waterfall as a section of the trail is currently closed due to safety concerns.

Reservations are required for every visit to the pool and can be made online through October 2023. Visitors are able to reschedule their visit up to the midnight before the reservation.
