DALLAS — May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and the Dallas-Fort Worth area is packed with local businesses and activities to celebrate and support the cultural contributions by the AAPI community.
AAPI Block Party:
Saturday, May 27, in the Bishop Arts neighborhood, get ready to enjoy some Asian-inspired Cajun seafood grub. In a collaboration between Krio and Asian Grub, the pair will host a block party with food, pop-up vendors, artists and entertainment.
Dallas Museum of Art:
Celebrate all month long at the Dallas Museum of Art. Explore the arts from Asia, with the Arts of Asia and Arts of the Pacific Islands collections. Stop by and view these permanent installations all month from Tuesday to Saturday,
Lion Dance Performance:
Lions have long been rich and important to Chinese mythology and AAPI culture. Saturday, May 14, enjoy a lion dance performance at the Victory Park Branch library! This performance is a part of a series of programs, “Explore Asia,” that explore a new region of Asia every Saturday.
Boba Republic:
Boba Republic is an AAPI-owned business in Plano, Texas, celebrating “boba culture” with boba tea, coffee, and blended drinks.
Asia Times Square:
To get a wide array of the culture, make sure to stop by one of the biggest Asian markets in Grand Prairie, Texas, representing nearly every Asian country with dozens of restaurants, retail shops, salons and even a game hall. Celebrate AAPI Month here with the free Asian Heritage Festival happening May 12 through 13.
