TEXAS — Legendary English singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel on Tuesday announced additional dates for his "i/o - The Tour," and included are three dates in Texas.
Gabriel, the former Genesis vocalist who has a string of hit albums and singles spanning several decades, will play Austin’s Moody Center on Oct. 18, American Airlines Center in Dallas on Oct. 19, and Toyota Center in Houston on Oct. 21.
It’s Gabriel’s first tour in five years, and it includes a number of summer dates in Europe. The tour is in support of his upcoming album “i/o,” which is his first in 20 years. The album will be released later in 2023.
First coming to prominence as the colorful lead vocalist for the English progressive rock group Genesis in the late 1960s, Gabriel left the band in 1975 to launch a successful and influential solo career.
His best-selling album remains 1986’s “So,” and his most successful single is “Sledgehammer.” It’s been reported that “Sledgehammer” is MTV’s most played video of all time.
Gabriel’s stage shows are elaborate and frequently feature a large group of musicians. He’s collaborated with artists including Robert Fripp, Kate Bush, Paula Cole and Robbie Robertson.
A champion of world music, Gabriel is also noted for his humanitarian work and has taken part in many human-rights benefit concerts.
General tickets will be available beginning on Friday, March 24.
