HOUSTON — The Houston Police Department is looking for the suspect in a violent robbery that left a woman paralyzed, according to reports, including one from Houston television affilate Fox 26. He body slammed the victim to the ground.
According to Houston police, on Feb. 13, around 11:30 a.m., 44-year-old Nhung Truong was walking into a shopping center when the male robber approached her and grabbed her in an attempt to take an envelope of cash. Truong dropped her belongings to the ground, including two envelopes. Surveillance video shows the man grabbed one of them and started to leave until he realized he had the wrong envelope. He quickly turned back to Truong, picked her up and threw her to the ground. He then took the envelope containing the cash and fled.
Prior to the robbery, Truong had gone to a Bank of America more than 20 miles away from the shopping center to withdraw a large sum of cash for an upcoming trip. Police say it is possible the suspect was watching the bank and followed the victim to her next location. This crime is referred to by police as jugging. According to Fox 26 Houston, doctors say there is a 50% chance she will fully recover.
The suspect is described as a Black man in his early 20s with a thin build. He is roughly 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 140 pounds.
