AUSTIN, Texas — It’s not often you lose and move up and into a poll. Texas has made its first appearance in the AP Top 25 Poll following a nail-biting 20-19 loss at home Saturday to Alabama.

The Longhorns rank at No. 21, aided in part by Texas A&M and Pittsburgh losses.

Reigning national champion Georgia returned to No. 1 and Alabama slid to No. 2.

The Longhorns additionally moved up two spots to No. 20 in the USA Today coaches poll.

Despite the good news, Saturday’s loss exacted heavy toll on Texas. Quarterback Quinn Ewers was knocked out of the game and is expected to be out 4-6 weeks.

Backup quarterback Hudson Card was injured as well. He’s listed as day-to-day.
