HOUSTON — Arizona Cardinals defensive end J.J. Watt extended his generosity to a Houston Texans fan after learning of her plans to sell sports memorabilia to afford her grandfather’s funeral.
Jennifer Simpson posted a tweet on Wednesday, asking if anyone was interested in purchasing a pair of J.J. Watt sneakers and a Watt Texans jersey.
About 20 minutes later, Watt responded, telling her to not sell her items and that he’d take care of the funeral expenses.
Simpson reacted to Watt’s offer, expressing her love for the football star.
Receiving more than 120,000 likes, Watt’s post brought in many positive reactions. This isn’t the first time he’s stepped in to be of service to his community, either.
Watt paid for the funerals of six Christmas parade victims in Wisconsin, his home state, as well as victims of the 2018 Santa Fe High School shooting in Texas. He also raised $37 million for victims of Hurricane Harvey and was the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2017.
His kind gestures have not gone unnoticed, and Simpson seems very grateful for the kindness that was shown to her.
Watt will join his teammates for a training camp on Tuesday.
