TEXAS — It’s not rare, but it’s rare around these parts.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service earlier this week reported a bat falcon was spotted for the first time in the U.S., and it made its appearance in South Texas.
The bird—which is common in Mexico, Central and South America—was seen at Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge.
The bird usually weighs between 4.8 and 8.5 ounces and hunt bats, small rodents, insects and other birds.
