  • Lawrence Eric Stern says West was walking through the airport without a mask, and when he told him to put one on, West tore Stern's mask off

  • A police report was taken, and police told Stern that the Grapevine Municipal Court will handle the issue

  • West provided his own account of the confrontation on social media, and did admit to pulling Stern’s mask off

According to the Dallas Morning News, citing a police report, Lawrence Eric Stern spotted West walking maskless through the airport that day.

Per the Transportation Security Administration, masks are required in airports through at least Jan. 18.

The report states that Stern told West to put a mask on and called him an “idiot.” West then asked Stern to repeat what he said, and he did.

Stern claims that West then hit him on the right side of his face and yanked his mask down. Following that, the police report says, Stern shoved West to get away from him.

West claims Stern assumed a fighting stance. Stern denies that but says West called him a “stupid white man.”

According to the Dallas Morning News, Stern has been informed that the incident has been placed before the Grapevine Municipal Court.

West, a former Florida congressman, took to social media to address the issue. He admitted to calling Stern a “stupid man” as well as pulling his mask down. West further said neither the U.S. House nor the U.S. Senate have made mask-wearing law.
