When it comes to beating the heat, a good fan can go a long way to help cool you down.

But did you know the direction the fan blades spin makes a difference, at least when talking about a ceiling fan?

It's true! Most ceiling fans have a little switch near the fan itself that will allow you to change direction. And it can really make an impact.

In the summer season, your fan blades should be set to rotate counterclockwise. That'll push air downwards, giving a cooling "wind chill" effect to your skin.

Meanwhile, during the winter season, the fan should be set to rotate clockwise. It effectively pulls the cool air up and pushes warmer air down.

Check your fan switch and make sure it's in the correct position to give you the maximum amount of comfort no matter what time of year.
