TEXAS — As of Monday, March 29, all adults in Texas are eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines.

Still, there remains difficulty actually scheduling an appointment to get inoculated, and in order to facilitate the process, the Texas Department of State Health Services has launched an online tool designed to connect people with providers.

The Texas Public Health Vaccine Scheduler is the newest way to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine and is available in addition to the DSHS website, which includes a list of Texas vaccine hubs.

Once you’ve arrived at the website, click “Get Started.” You will be asked to provide information including your name, address, email address, date of birth, city of residence and ZIP code.

You will then be asked to create a password.

Once you’ve submitted your information you should receive an email that includes a link as well as a user name.

Following the link to the website, you will be asked for additional information including gender, race, ethnicity, preferred language for contact, phone number and appointment notification preference.

After filling that out, you will be directed to a survey. You will answer a series of questions concerning occupation and health.

You will then be prompted for insurance information.

Upon completion of registration, you will be placed in a queue for vaccination appointment information in your county of residence. At some point you should receive appointment details. You can cancel your appointment if needed.

Texas this week is scheduled to receive roughly 1 million vaccine doses. The state is home to nearly 30 million people, 3,683,989 of whom are fully vaccinated as of Monday, according to DSHS data.
