WILLILAMSON COUNTY, Texas — According to Williamson County and Cities Health District (WCCHD), recent high community COVID-19 transmission has prompted it to move the county to orange phase.

The agency reports the rolling average of new reported cases has increased from 6.88 to 9.22 per 100,000 residents over the past seven days.

The color-coded, risk-based guidelines lay out four stages of risk, starting with green, which indicates minimal community spread, and ending red, which indicates uncontrolled community spread. Orange comes right before red.

Under the orange phase, it is recommended residents avoid gatherings of more than five people, large events are avoided or postponed, you should wear a mask around people outside of your immediate household, maintain six feet of distance from others, and wash your hands frequently.

In addition, WCCHD reported that a check of data import systems revealed an additional 600 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 800 probable cases between July and October that were unintentionally excluded from Williamson County reporting.

The newly added cases did not affect the current rolling 7-day average, however, WCCHD stated.
