- Thousands of fans and characters attended
- Cosplay, collectibles featured
The Big Texas Comicon drew thousands of fans and characters downtown this weekend.
"We don’t expect to be the biggest, but we have to start from somewhere," said Big Texas Comicon director Garrett Killian.
While some people come for the frenzy of cosplay characters, others are trying to reel in special pop culture collectibles.
"Oh this is a nerd’s paradise. Main thing is we collect Funko Pops so that’s another thing, they do have them here,” said event goer Patrick Gutierrez.

The Funko Pops are a hot commodity here at the conference with some being sold for thousands.
"They have Walking Dead, The Office, Dragon Ball Z, football ones they have Zeke," said Gutierrez.
Over in the celebrity corner, famous voices like Squidward from Spongebob are making special appearances.
"It is always wonderful to meet the fans. We don’t have audiences when we do our work so this is where we get to see how people really regard our work and our show,” said Rodger Bumpass, actor who voices Squidward.
Another Big Texas Comicon is already in the works for 2020. A date has yet to be announced.
