1. Texas House ethics investigators detail years of alleged misconduct by AG Ken Paxton

A day after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton issued a statement urging House Speaker Dade Phelan to resign, House ethics investigators told a panel of state lawmakers that Paxton for years abused his official capacity by doing political favors for a campaign donor.

2. Uvalde victim's mother perseveres through teaching, connecting with daughter's memory

In a decade replete with mass killings, many of them involving shootings, Uvalde stands out — both for the young age of most of its victims and the abysmal law enforcement response. Nearly 400 heavily armed officials rushed to the school but waited more than an hour before one of them confronted and killed the shooter. Outraged families of children slain have demanded answers and accountability. One year after the killings, they haven't gotten much of either.

3. CDC: 2 dead of suspected cases of meningitis after surgeries in Mexico, over 200 patients at risk

Federal officials say more than 200 patients could be at risk of fungal meningitis after having surgical procedures at clinics in a Mexico border city.

The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday it is collaborating with the Mexican Ministry of Health and U.S. state and local health departments to respond to the outbreak among patients who traveled to Matamoros, across the border from Brownsville, Texas.
