TEXAS — If home is where the heart is, then that's where you'll find Scott Norman. His family owns thousands of acres east of San Antonio.

"You get to come home and see all the butterflies, all the flowers, all the beautiful trees. It's really relaxing, you know? I'm never stressed living out here and I really like to work with my hands," Norman said.

He thought he wanted to be a furniture builder one day. That changed when Norman stepped inside an old-fashioned toy shop.

"They had a ton of intricate little wooden toys. I was just blown away. I thought, 'Man, maybe I should build toys!'' he said.

He started his business, the Happy Quacker, in 2022. Norman makes toys by hand from locally sourced reclaimed wood.

"It's just kind of bringing back some of the older, really fun interactive creative toys that people used to play with," said Norman.

He makes everything from toys on wheels to wooden puzzles. Norman even makes his own version of Lincoln logs. He says he likes getting back to the basics when things were handmade and kids sat for hours just playing.

"Where you can actually sit and be creative and think. I think that's what wooden toys like this really help kids do," said Norman.
