1. Travis County Attorney rejects charges against the 79 arrested and charged during the April 29 UT protests

Travis County Attorney Delia Garza has decided to reject the charges against 79 individuals who were arrested and charged with criminal trespassing during the April 29 protests at UT Austin.

The county attorney clarified that the dropped cases pertain solely to individuals accused of criminal trespass during the UT protest on April 29.

2. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick renews vow to require Ten Commandments in Texas public schools

The governor of Louisiana signed a law last week to require every classroom in public schools from kindergarten through college to display the Ten Commandments.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said in a social media post that Texas should’ve been the first to pass the law. Religious experts say that ideology isn’t representative of Texas’ diverse religious makeup or of Christian beliefs.

3. Encounters at the U.S.-Mexico border drop 40% in weeks since Biden's border crackdown, DHS say

The average number of encounters at the U.S. southern border decreased more than 40% in the three weeks since President Joe Biden announced executive action to crack down on illegal crossings, the Department of Homeland Security said on Wednesday. 

However, the department noted, 2,400 average still sits above the threshold that lifts restrictions on asylum laid out in Biden’s executive action unveiled earlier this month. 

4. Move over, Cheddar Bay Biscuits! Texas Roadhouse rolls hit select Walmart stores

Following the footsteps of Red Lobster’s Cheddar Bay Biscuits, Texas Roadhouse will sell packs of its rolls at select Walmarts. 

According to an Instagram post, the package will feature 12 mini rolls and include a honey cinnamon glaze. The rolls will be available June 29 in Walmart stores in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky, according to the post.
