Strong to severe storms will threaten parts of the Lone Star State this afternoon and evening.

What You Need To Know

  • Edwards Plateau is under a slight risk of severe storms tonight

  • The main threats will be damaging winds and large hail

  • Flooding could also be possible with rain totals between 1"-2"

The Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the severe threat to a Slight Risk (level 2) for the Texas Hill Country and areas west of I-35. Dallas, Austin and San Antonio metros are included in the Marginal Risk (level 1).

Dallas will see some storms move south of the area during the afternoon but the main activity will be south into Central and South-Central Texas.

With the heating of the day, scattered storms will begin to fire late in the afternoon and evening and then head east towards I-35 late tonight into Thursday morning.

Damaging winds and hail will be the primary threats. Flooding rain will also accompany these storms. Since the ground is already very saturated after recent rains, any additional rain could lead to flooding problems.
