SAN ANTONIO — Potentially joining Victor Wembanyama later this fall on the San Antonio Spurs roster is Texas Longhorns guard Sir’Jabari Rice.
The Spurs announced Wednesday that they signed Rice on a two-way contract. Depending on his performance in the Summer League, he may see some playing time with Wemby on the courts.
Rice was a transfer to Texas for the 2022-2023 season as a grad student, averaging 13 points per game, 3.5 rebounds and two assists. He was the Big 12 Conference Sixth Man of the Year and was also named to the All-Big 12 Third Team. Before playing in Austin, Texas, Rice played four seasons at New Mexico State, averaging 10 points per game, 4.3 bounds and two assists.
The Houston native is currently on the Spurs Summer League roster, sporting No. 11.
