SAN ANTONIO — Last week, Bexar County launched a reimbursement program of up to $1,500 per household to assist Bexar County residents with costs associated with broken pipes and plumbing in the aftermath of the winter storm.
The county has distributed over 40,000 cases of water in suburban areas that are still without running water but now officials are looking to do more.
Officials have noted that residents in outlying county areas are more likely to incur difficulty in getting a plumber to come out to remote locations and in some cases, water supply linked to private wells makes the plumbing work more complicated, especially with a scarcity of available plumbers during this time.
The county will now dispatch a plumber and pay up to $1,500 towards parts and labor.
Those who are ineligible for Bexar County's Plumbing Assistance Program are encouraged to contact SAWS or the City of San Antonio for other plumbing assistance programs. FEMA also offers disaster assistance through disasterassistance.gov.
Residents can click for the "I Need a Plumber" Program form through the Bexar County website.
The number for assistance 210-631-5000. It is available from 8 a.m - 5 p.m, Monday through Friday.
