TEXAS -- If you've been looking for a way to help out, Tuesday is your chance to give back to the organizations nearest to your heart -- without even leaving the couch.
Giving Tuesday is typically the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, but in response to the pandemic the group is holding a special "Giving Tuesday NOW."
You can choose from more than 700 nonprofits in Central Texas to donate to, one of which is Habitat for Humanity.
The group hasn't had volunteers on its five active construction sites since mid-March.
They're hoping to raise at least $25,000 Tuesday to help double down on building materials and safety measures for volunteers once they're able to resume construction.
"I think what this pandemic has really revealed is that having safe, healthy, and affordable shelter is more important than ever. It's really hard to shelter in place if your shelter is a detriment to your health, whether it's because of a mold problem or overcrowding," says Andrew Donilon with Austin Habitat for Humanity.
