SAN ANTONIO -- The International Academy of San Antonio, San Antonio’s newest private school, will open this August and serve 100 students grades kindergarten through fifth grade.

  • Tri-lingual curriculum
  • International learning activities
  • Accepting applications

The school will be the first of its kind in the region and will feature a complete educational curriculum enhanced with tri-lingual instruction in English, Spanish and coding.

“We are proud and excited to launch San Antonio’s very first international school and believe it will truly enrich our city’s educational landscape, helping students maximize their potential on the global stage,” said Bruce Rockstroh, BRAINATION superintendent and CEO. “We are focused on not only nurturing exceptional students academically, but also broadening their world view, nurturing a sense of mindfulness and developing informed, well-rounded citizens of the world.”

IASA is part of a global collection of schools, the Common Ground Collaborative, which structures their education around six “human commonalities” that define modern life: imagination and creativity; personal identity; purpose and balance; patterns and principles; sustainability and systems; and literacy.

Field trips, digital pen pals from around the globe and guest speakers from other countries are just a few of the international learning activities planned.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays academics will be taught in English, while Tuesdays and Thursdays they will be in Spanish.

“We’ve selected a dream team of seasoned, bilingual educators that bring a wealth of experience in international education and leadership to the Academy. They will help IASA students increase their capacity for greatness in both academics and their personal lives,” said Raul Hinojosa II, Ed.L.D., IASA head of school.

IASA is currently accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year and will host a series of open houses for parents and students interested in learning more about the academy.

The academy is located inside The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus of the San Antonio Jewish Community at 12500 NW Military Hwy.
